National Professional Mentoring Research Study
Friends program the center of a national longitudinal study
Friends of the Children KC is part of a study being conducted by The National Institute of Health who awarded a grant to the Oregon Social Learning Center to conduct the first longitudinal, randomized, controlled trial study of long-term professional mentoring.
The study will follow two cohorts of children enrolled in 2008 and 2009, at four Friends-KC chapters, and compare their outcomes with a randomized control group.
Friends-KC knows how well its approach to mentoring works from seeing the remarkable growth and progress of the children in the program.
When completed, this study will offer scientific evidence of the program’s effectiveness, which will help us expand to serve greater numbers of vulnerable children in Seattle and beyond.
By being a part of this landmark study, we will get to participate in shaping the future of mentoring. For more information, please contact us.
